Career Outlook

Picking a career is not just about what sounds good or what might make a lot of money. Students want to pick a career that is going to have a good salary so you can have a comfortable life, but it has to be a career that is going to have jobs available. Some careers might sound really exciting, but you don’t want to spend a lot of time in college only to find that there are no jobs.

An important step in selecting a career is to check out the Career Outlook for careers that interest you. The Career Outlook will tell you on average how many job openings are available each year in that career and whether job openings are expected to increase, stay the same, or decline. It can also tell you the average annual salaries for someone in that job both locally and nationwide.

Below are links to local information on hot careers in North Carolina and FTCC job placement information to tell you which programs at FTCC produce graduates who find jobs, as well as  information about the job outlook for a career through the Occupational Outlook Handbook or the North Carolina Career Outlook Handbook links.
